Kidney Friendly Smoothies

Someone I know might need Kidney Dialysis

Kidney dialysis is a treatment that removes waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys are unable to function properly.

I wanted to help out in any way possible, so I decided to look for recipes that are good for people who might be going through Kidney Failure.

Of course, these are things that work for G, so please use them at your own discretion. I am not a professional, and I am simply documenting my experience and things that work for me.

Now, back to the good stuff.

I found that a Berry Smoothie, Apple-Cucumber Smoothie, Apple-Cinnamon Smoothie, Pineapple & Strawberry “Agua Fresca” Smoothie, Strawberry Rice Milk Smoothie, Cucumber Lime Mint Smoothie, and a Peach Smoothie are super good for people who might be going through Kidney Failure.

How to make smoothies

Berry Smoothie

Rinse half a cup of strawberries and half a cup of blueberries. Then, add them to a blender. After that, add half a cup of rice milk or almond milk. If you want your smoothie extra sweet, you can add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup. This is a yummy morning shake. A great morning refreshment.

Apple-Cucumber Smoothie
Here’s a fun recipe for a refreshing smoothie! First, peel half an apple and a quarter of a cucumber. Then, add them to your blender. Next, pour in half a cup of rice milk or water. And if you like, add a few fresh mint leaves or a splash of lemon juice for extra flavor. Blend it all up until it’s smooth and creamy. Enjoy your delicious and healthy smoothie!

Apple Cinnamon Smoothie

Peel an apple and chop it into tiny pieces. You’ll need about half a cup of these pieces. Add them to your blender along with half a cup of rice milk, a pinch of cinnamon, and some ice cubes. Feel free to add the ice cubes whole or crush them up in the blender.

Pineapple & Strawberry ā€œAgua Frescaā€ Smoothie

Here’s what you’ll need: half a cup of fresh pineapple (not canned in syrup), half a cup of strawberries, and a blender. First, rinse the strawberries and add them to the blender. Then, add half a cup of cold water or rice milk. Finally, add ice cubes. You can leave them whole or crush them in the blender.

Strawberry Rice Milk Smoothie

Here’s what you’ll need: half a cup of rinsed strawberries, half a cup of unsweetened rice milk, and half a teaspoon of honey (optional). Add some ice cubes, either whole or crushed, and you’re all set!

Cucumber Lime Mint Smoothie

First, peel a quarter of a cucumber and add it to the blender. Then, cut a lime in half and squeeze the juice into the blender. Add half a cup of cold water and two or three fresh mint leaves, but feel free to skip that if you don’t have mint. Lastly, add some ice cubes, either whole or crushed, to the blender.

Peach Smoothie

Here’s what you’ll need: half a cup of fresh or frozen peaches, not canned in syrup. Then, add half a cup of cold water and some ice cubes, either whole or crushed. Pop all that into the blender and you’re all set!
