Dr. Elsey’s Ultra UnScented Clumping Clay Cat Litter is what I am currently using now, and I love it!
I have been a cat owner since 2019. It has been very great having a companion by my side. If you are interested in learning a little bit more about how I became a cat mom, go ahead and read: Keeping Your Cats Happy, it’s the first section of that. It explains a little more about how I came to be a mom to Robin and Night Wing.
Last year, I lived with 4 cats. Spooky, Pickle, Robin, and NightWing. I had a total of 5 litter boxes; my brother used to only have one litter box, and it was not a well-maintained one either. So I purchased a total of 3 sifting Litter boxes and had a total of 5 litter boxes. It was a huge pain to have to fill all of those boxes, so we used the Tidy Cat Litter from Sam’s. It was about $17-$18, so it was a great deal for the litter. It would, however, not last a lot. We didn’t have leftover funds at the time, so we had to settle for that.
My boyfriend and I now live together on our own, and we only have two cats now, we have a stainless steel XL litter box for both of our cats, I know it’s ideal to have an extra litter box in addition to the amount of cats you have, so if you have 1 cat, have 2 litter boxes, if you have 2 cats, have 3 litter boxes, etc.. I do live in a small apartment, it’s super small, so we just have one litter box for now, and we do change it twice a day. So far, my cats have been okay with it and have been super good at keeping it all inside the litter box. They have been so well behaved, I am so stinking proud of them. They haven’t really had any accidents, and that’s awesome.
So with this new move, finally having a stainless steel litter box (I had been eyeing it for about a year at that point), I decided to do some research, and I decided to look into: which litter box is the best for your cats and for yourself. I did some research on which litter to get, and thus far, this one is the best I have ever used. It smells decent, and the most important thing? The pee clumps so well! It doesn’t start to dissolve and get all over your clean litter. (You know the little specks of pee that fall over because the litter sucks?? Well yeah. That doesn’t happen with this one!)

We first bought the cat litter on July 24, 2025, and used almost all of it. We did get more litter on August 04, 2025. The pee still clumps extremely well. We’ve only had this litter for 20 days, and we just dump some a little at a time with each litter clean. (to replace the litter that got thrown out) We officially dumped all of the litter end of August. Didn’t keep track of it; my boyfriend did it, and I just forgot to take note of it. I will let you know the next time we do decide to dump it out, though, and I will totally be updating!!
Ever since this litter has come into our lives, our home has smelled great, no dust for our cats when they do decide to use the litter. It’s easy to clean up; the pee does not get all over the rest of the litter, which is awesome.
I used to always use the TidyCats Litter, but I am glad I made the change. I had been using Tidy Cats since 2022; It’s super cheap at Sam’s too, which is why I stuck by it for so long. It would last as well, but I did make the change to Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Unscented Clumping Clay Cat Litter, and I love it even more.
