I, on the other hand, sometimes get bored or just want something fun to do. And I also like to be on a low budget, try to spend as little as possible. I also want to make this Halloween season feel more like Halloween, because that’s what it’s about!! Making it about the holiday, spending time with yourself, or with family, or even friends.
Anyway, my partner and I got a package in the mail, I used the leftover cardboard, and we used the cardboard box to make ourselves some decorative bats for our chimney area.
HOW DID I MAKE THE BAT SHAPES WITH CARDBOARD?
Canva
I used Canva to add the number of bats I wanted on the chimney area. I had never done it like that, but I did see someone on TikTok decorate an area by taking a picture and putting the furniture in the picture they took. So I was like, I can also use that for decorating!! So I quickly took a picture of my chimney area and added some bats to the chimney. I decided to measure the size of the chimney (so I could get the right size of bats I wanted). Once I got an idea of what I wanted, I quickly got to work.
I got the shape of the bat that I wanted and adjusted it to the size I wanted as well. I then zoomed in on the bat shape I decided to use and traced it using my laptop. You can either freehand draw it or just use your TV, a projector, a Tablet, or even your phone, but using your phone will take a little while longer to do, but it is possible!!
After I traced the bat shape I wanted, I then used the exacto knife to cut that shape and just left the shape of the bat. I then went to the cardboard and used my exacto knife to trace the bat shape onto it. I then repeated the same thing 15 separate times.
I then painted all the cardboard-shaped bats with black paint, using a paintbrush. I let it dry and decided to paint the shapes black one more time, and wait for it to dry one more time. I then used wall putty to place them on the wall.

At the end of the day, this DIY Bat Decor took me the longest time ever; I believe the whole 15 bats took me about 1.5-2 hours. I was seeing Jeepers Creepers with my boyfriend while working on it, so I was getting very distracted.
It was super fun, I had something to do, listened to Halloween music before my boyfriend ended up putting on the Jeepers Creepers movie. It was such a great time. I spent no money; I did something for myself.
